Best Pintxos bars – Old town San Sebastián

Want to go for tapas or pintxos in San Sebastian? Throughout the entire Old Quarter (Lo Viejo, Parte Vieja) of San Sebastian locals spread offering a wide variety of pintxos, on every corner and street of Old Part of Donostia can try a wonderful culinary masterpiece in miniature, getting it through a wooden stick. Mandatory, you cannot throw the stick, these will be counted for defining you bill. Beside this, we want to clarify one thing: the pintxos are a symbol of Donostia and you can find excellent pintxos throughout the entire city. We’ve talked about the best pintxos in San Sebastian in our previous blog. Many of them are located in the old part and like so many exquisite and we decided to exclude them from this list. Enjoy a walk through the old part of San Sebastian during your stay at our hotel in San Sebastián and let a pintxito delight and a glass of wine.

What we have collected here is only a small guide for tourist arriving to Donostia (and even the locals in search of a last minute advice ). All Donostia bar and tapa has a special “secret” dish, although we couldn’t fit all of them in the page so we had to make a mini map.

Indeed , our resorted starts a little out of the Old Town , just a few meters , but we thought a little walk from the Shell to Zurriola to enjoy the view is certainly nice Kuursaal before immersion in the pleasures of gastronomy.

The bar reopened with the new “face ” in the summer of 2010 , formerly called Ramuntxo patio , you can find hot and cold pintxos quite traditional : meat ball , crispy baby squid , cod with peppers taco , foie with apple, veal tail in sauce, grilled shrimp , beef taco with chili , shrimp skewer , bread toast with cream glass lapilli and anchovies , octopus Galician tuna stuffed peppers , fried peppers , several toasts . The place is not very big , has a narrow entrance to the bar to the right and left few stools , for those who want to find more ” Comfortable ” there is also a restaurant area . Now just cross the bridge, turn on your right and you’ll find Bretxa San Juan Street . Two block on your left and you find Fermin Calbeton Street: one of the mythical streets for tapas in the old part of San Sebastian. A few meters and you are:

– Goiz-Argi (Fermin Calbeton, 4) :

The specialty is shrimp skewer , which has a wonderful vinaigrette on top. Many say it is the best prawn pintxos San Sebastian. Another “must” tapa is the Mari Juli : salmon + anchovy. The exquisite pintos are most and will result when customers , a real treat for the palate. This bar is already one of the classic “The Old Man” , no doubt a must for any route in the old.

It is a very peculiar and specialized bar in anchovies. Manu, the owner, has continued the family legacy. Since more than a century they have been serving pintxos in the old part of San Sebastian. This bar, also known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Antxoa ¨ , offers 13 different types of pintxos all prepared with the best market antxoas . Its miniature dishes are 100% handmade and with products of the highest quality. Are you going to stop for a Antxoa gardener

We will close our mini route with one of the best known and perhaps best bars in the Old Part. Right at the foot of Urgull is …

– La Cuchara de San Telmo (Street August Thirty One , 28)

This bar is one of the top one in tradition for the elaborate search to excel… Definitely got. For over 15 years the Spoon offers many interesting options , but meat in gravy type cheek , chin , oxtail, the embroider . You can find also fantastic rice and unique stuffed tomatoes. This itself is always a full and not very big , so you have to go at the right time to take a good pintxos.

Other exceptional bars you can find in the old town are Paco Well, the Spike Bar , Bar San Marcial , Bar Ganbara Egosari Bar , Bar Zeruko , Bar Tambourine , Bar Gandarias and A Black Fire .
